(Atlanta, GA – July 20, 2023) — Capital Growth StoreGuard (StoreGuard), focused on the ever-growing self-storage industry, is committed to making a positive contribution to its community. As part of its corporate stewardship efforts, StoreGuard is making a donation to a local nonprofit in every city where they own a property. On July 19, the company donated $1,500 to K9 Battle Buddies at the StoreGuard facility in Hinesville, Georgia, which is located at 404 Fraser Circle.
K9 Battle Buddies is a non-profit organization run by veterans for veterans. K9 Battle Buddies trains rescued dogs to be service dogs for combat veterans, active duty service members, and first responders with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and/or TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). Its goal is to offer immediate companionship by placing the battle buddy (rescue dog) with the veteran then working with the veteran on training their buddy until they can pass its public access test. The organization partners with several dog rescues and shelters who place rescued dogs into the program if the dog is a candidate for service training.
“Our battle buddies and training are provided at no cost to veterans,” said Patricia Durham, Co-Founder and CEO at K9 Battle Buddies. “This contribution from StoreGuard will go a long way in helping us achieve our goals, which ultimately helps the veterans and the rescued dogs. Every time battle buddies are paired, two lives are enriched–the life of the veteran who has served our country and the life of a rescued dog.”
Mike Vahle, Managing Partner for StoreGuard, is a veteran himself, having served five years on active duty in the U.S. Army as a Field Artillery officer. Renovating local schools during a deployment to Baghdad gave Mike his first taste of making meaningful physical improvements in a community, serving as an inspiration for his future career in real estate development.
“Being a good corporate citizen is vital to us,” said Mike. “StoreGuard follows the precedent set by our affiliate company, Capital Growth Buchalter, by committing time and resources to charitable causes that are meaningful to members of the team and the communities they serve. K9 Battle Buddies is making a difference in the Hinesville community, and we are so pleased to support them.”
